Reel Big Corp is a live and post technology company.

We build live visuals for concerts, direct IMAG in stadiums, and deliver the footage at the end. Editors, DIT bays and servers sit in the same building as the cameras.

What we do

We run the show, then we finish it.

Reel Big Studios shoots. We cover the day itself and everything after it — and we own the kit for both, so there is no rental markup and nobody to wait on.

Live

Arenas, festivals and theatres

We build the IMAG visuals, direct our own camera operators, and switch the show live on our own 4K flypack. A flypack is a portable broadcast control room — switcher, monitoring, record and stream gear in road cases. Ours is 4K, and it is what lets us cut an arena show without hiring a broadcast truck.

  • IMAG, visual direction and camera operating
  • Switched live, streamed live, recorded clean
  • No broadcast truck to hire, no vendor hand-offs

Post

Post, in house

Editors, DIT bays and servers sit in the same building as the cameras. Footage is ingested and backed up locally as it comes off the card, so you can come in and pull a project down the same day instead of waiting on a link from another coast.

  • Edit, colour, sound and delivery
  • Ingest and backup happen on the day, on site
  • Come in and pull the project down yourself

Services

The infrastructure, without the whole job.

Two things we built for ourselves and now rent out. Neither one needs you to book a shoot with us.

Warm storage

Your masters, uncompressed, an hour away

Cold storage is cheap right up until you need it. Then it is a 12-hour thaw, a surprise egress bill, and two days of downloading before anyone can open a timeline.

We hold your masters uncompressed and warm. When you want them back, we put them on an SSD and drive it to you in Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego.

How it works

  1. We come to setWe collect the offloaded media straight from your DIT, on the day.
  2. It goes on our serversBacked up uncompressed and kept warm, not archived to tape.
  3. It sits there as long as you needMonthly or annual. Every asset stays where it was, named the way you named it.
  4. We deliver it back on an SSDHand-delivered in LA, Orange County and San Diego, or pull it off our drive at our place.

What it costs

Monthly or annual, priced against the size of the job. Annual is ten months for twelve.

The real alternative is not the cloud, it is buying a drive — and owning it properly means buying two, because one drive in a drawer is not a backup. Once you count the second drive and the day somebody spends offloading and checking it, we come in under owning. Cloud is cheaper than both and always will be. What cloud costs you is the week your client asks for the raw on a Thursday and the grade is due Monday.

Tell us the size of the job and how long you want it held, and you get a number back the same day.

Software for producers, by producers

Production Manager

An internal tool we are opening up to a handful of producers. It automates the workflow and centralises everything a line producer, production manager and production supervisor has to get done — and gives the executive above them somewhere to review it.

One source of truth across pre-production, production and post.

  • Built for line producers, PMs and production supervisors
  • Executive review built in
  • iOS, Android, and a web app in the browser

How it works

You call. We show up. It stays backed up.

No account manager and no discovery call. Donald is the person you talk to, and he will be on the floor.

Load-in. Step two is a real number because this is real gear.
  1. 1

Tell us what you are making

The form asks for budget and timeline up front, so the first reply is a real answer instead of a discovery call. If we are not the right people we will say so, and point you at who is.

  2. 2

We spec it against our own gear

Cameras, lighting, trucks and the 4K flypack are ours, so the quote is not a guess wrapped around a rental order. Camera count, crew count and a number.

  3. 3

The job runs on Production Manager

Call sheets, crew onboarding and paperwork go through our own software. You get it because you are working with us, not as a line item on the invoice.

  4. 4

We finish it and we keep it

The cut, the colour and the delivery happen in the same building as the ingest. Then it stays on our servers. Two years later, someone asks for the raw — and it is a phone call, not an excavation.

Why us

Built inside a working production company.

Reel Big Corporation is the live, post and technology arm of Reel Big Studios, running since 2018.

A core team in Orange County and Los Angeles, plus a crew roster of over a thousand people we call on worldwide, and equipment in Texas, Miami, New York and Europe. Donald Nguyen is the person you talk to.

Everything we sell here we built because we needed it on a job. The archive exists because a client called about a shoot from 2021. Production Manager exists because we needed one place to run our own jobs from. The colourist can walk over and ask the operator what the light was doing.

The other half

Production lives at Reel Big Studios.

Commercials, film, television and music videos — the shoot itself — go through the studio. Same building, same crew, different front door.

If you need a director, a crew and a shoot day, start there. If you need the show cut live, the footage finished, or the drives kept, you are already in the right place. Plenty of jobs are both, and we take partial scope either way — live only, post only, storage only.
